Ear Training Software Personal Ear Trainer (PET) is ear training software which helps you to become a better musician. It doesn't matter which instrument you play, how long you've been playing, which styles of music you play, or whether or not you read music - developing your musical ear will make you a better musician - guaranteed!
What is ear training?Ear training is the process of systematically improving your ability to recognize musical structures (such as a chord or scale) just by listening to it. There are four stages to this: 1. Awareness - you must be introduced to various musical structures. 2. Categorisation - you must give it a name (eg: "Major", "Dorian Scale"). 3. Memorisation - you must remember what it sounds like. 4. Recognition - hearing it should make you think of the name that you've associated with it. The traditional way vs the new wayNow, this all sounds very complicated but, in reality, it's very simple. All you need to do is practise! The traditional way to practise ear training is for a teacher or a friend to work with you, playing 'tests' on an instrument for you to identify. The problem with this is that it's not always convenient to find someone else to help. Ear training software solves this problem by taking the place of the teacher or friend. PET is always there, never gets tired or bored, and always works at your level - that's why it's called PERSONAL ear trainer! TIP: Most accomplished musicians and educators agree that the best way to practise is to follow the rule of 'little and often'. You can get amazing results by practising for just a few minutes each day. How will I progress? There's no simple answer to this question apart from: "you'll progress at your own pace - the pace that's right for you". People who have practiced using ear training software have reported signicant improvements in all areas of their playing, including but not limited to:
